About Me

Boris Boland’s colorful background goes back over 30 years and covers five different states. Before he gravitated to the field of editing and writing, he held down jobs as a factory laborer, landscaper, gas station attendant, short-order cook, radio DJ, casino sports-wagering supervisor, taxi driver, and motel night clerk. He’s spent time in public relations and city government communications, and was a base newspaper editor and media chief in the US Air Force.

Throughout his career, Boris has always been the go-to guy in his office for questions about grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and style. Boris is currently putting his line editing and proofreading talents to work for the O’Leary Publishing team, making sure authors’ manuscripts are flawless while still preserving the original flavor. He’s thrilled to have the opportunity to help writers tell their stories in the most effective way possible.

Boris is the co-author of Birth of the Detroit Sound, 1940-1964 (Arcadia, 2002) and contributed to an acclaimed music anthology book (Heaven Was Detroit, M.L. Liebler, ed.; Wayne State University, 2016). Boris is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno.

He’s passionate about music, architecture, hard-boiled/detective fiction, film noir, big old cars with fins, vintage Americana, and travel. He’s also a drummer and a Siberian Husky dad. He and his wife Alexandra live in the Detroit, Michigan area.
